GBM case studies

Dr. Debra Kimless presented 4 case studies at CannMed 2017: 2 patients with prostate cancer and 2 patients with GBM. She was contacted by the patients after traditional chemo and radiation had failed. These patients were looking for reprieve of the side effects of their illness, not necessarily a ‘cure’. She treated all of them with low dose cannabis oil, usually 1 mg/ml  SL QID.

  1. 8 yo girl with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Failed multiple chemo and radiation trials. Bone transplant lasted about a year. Child put in hospice at that time. Suffered somnolence, nausea, headache, non-communicative, facial edema. Treated with methadone and morphine at that time. Goals were to reduce opiates and improve quality of life.

Results: able to wean OFF opiates, energy soared, pain decreased and appetite increased. Mother requested another MRI. Tumor greatly reduced.

Dr. Kimless provided these studies:

additional studies

2. 69 yo male in hospice with glioblastoma – inoperable because of location. Complaints lethargy, nausea, poor appetite and seizures. 1 ml cannabis oil SL QID. Feeling better and eating within 2 days. After 2 weeks MRI improved (NO radiation or chemo during that time). Per radiologist “Central cystic degeneration. Radiation working”.

Patient went on to have radiation and Temodar. Is now doing well.

Once again, Dr. Kimless is not advertising a cure, but help in managing these devastating prognoses. Cannabis does have properties that are very useful in managing side effects caused by chemotherapy and radiation AND has proven to have neuroprotective and antiproliferative properties.
